Cornerstone Institutional Investors, Inc. (CII)
All of the services and advice we provide is based upon your needs. We will (1)
identify and document all of your financial goals, (2) represent you in the financial
markets to buy intelligently, (3) routinely monitor the progress of your investments
and (4) make periodic changes where appropriate.
By helping you clearly articulate your financial goals and objectives, and by implementing
what we plan, Cornerstone will provide you with confidence in decision-making, simplicity
in implementation and peace of mind in monitoring your progress toward achieving
your goals.
As a result of our relationship, you will benefit from a plan that’s practical,
meaningful and understandable … a plan that performs better and ultimately costs
less.
How our planning process works
Many investors have adopted a piecemeal approach to planning — dealing with
several advisors or brokers who all specialize in different areas and who all have
profit centers. The coordination of this type of “planning” is typically left up
to the client. In an increasingly complex legal, tax and investment environment,
this approach can be a challenge to say the least.
Implementation is the key to successful stewardship.
Cornerstone’s institutional planning process means that all decisions
are centralized, not made through multiple advisors and product salespeople. Through
our process of listening, understanding, designing, implementing and monitoring
we help you achieve results based on your objectives, not on a checklist of consultants’
suggestions.
CII follows a strict institutional investment management process designed to control
risk and deliver above-average, risk-adjusted returns.
What are the Differences Between an Institutional and
Individual Investor?
Study after study has proven that an institutional investor far outperforms
an individual investor. The following are six characteristics why this is true:
How are we Compensated?
Cornerstone's advisors are compensated in the following ways:
Planning Fees - We believe in a goals
based approach to planning that provides milestones for progress. Primary areas
of focus are retirement planning, college planning, insurance planning, investment
planning and basic estate planning. If engaged for this service, Cornerstone charges
a planning fee in the range of $500 - $5,000 depending upon the complexity of your
situation. This would be clearly explained through a Scope of Work letter prior
to engaging us in any of this activity.
Investment Advisory Fees - For clients
with more than $200,000 of investable assets, CII charges a percentage of assets
with a minimum annual fee of $2,500. Under this arrangement, we have no incentive
to create transactions in order to get paid.
Commissions - Many financial products
have compensation built into their cost structure that cannot be removed. These
are generally appropriate for accounts with less than $200,000 of assets. If part
of your investment solution calls for a commissionable product we will fully disclose
this amount to you in advance.
Referrals - Referrals are the lifeblood
of our business. After we have earned your trust and respect, we will ask you to
introduce us to others whom you feel can benefit from meeting with us.
